Looking back on my original visit here about 2 years ago, I'd remembered the food was just average, but could not recall how the service was in order to compare the two visits. We had planned originally to have dessert and coffee here, but given the poor food quality and total lack of service at the table, we opted to pay our check and go elsewhere for dessert. As for the waiter, when we had placed our dinner order, he needed us to point to menu items - it appeared he may have been new, but was completely unfamiliar with the menu it seemed. My fish and mashed potatoes were cold, and the other person in our party had room temperature pasta. Of the 3 people in our dining party, only one had food that was warm. It was 30 minutes until he returned with our drinks, and then the food showed up 5 minutes later. He came by for a drink order, and took our dinner order. Finally a gentleman came over to seat us, leaving us to wait at the table for 15 minutes until we even saw a waiter. They churn every ice cream flavor onsite daily. Each day they offer ten flavors - five staples and five that are chosen based on whats inspiring the kitchen at that particular moment. Upon walking in, there was no host/hostess to seat us so we just stood around while staff walked by us. It's been about 2 years since my last visit here and what a disappointment. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion. Whether is be classical piano or acoustic sets, it goes above and beyond to elevate your dining experience.
Caffe Navona also offers live music almost every night. The deserts are also OUT OF THIS WORLD! The homemade white chocolate mousse, and creamy tiramisu are well worth it. I recommend the steak topped with caramelized onions/gorgonzola or the pork chop topped with peppers/onions AND Italian fries. The entrees provide something for everyone's palette. Delicious appetizers such as honey-glazed eggplant fritters, scallops in a champagne cream sauce, and burrata over a cucumber/beet salad, start your meal off perfectly. They melt in your mouth and are unlike anything you've ever tasted! Seriously. The pastas and sauces are all homemade, and most memorable is the gnocchi. Caffe Navona delivers authentic, Italian cuisine. The owner and staff interact with the customers in a genuine way, and are willing to accommodate you has needed to make sure your experience and meal are nothing but satisfactory. When you walk in the door at Caffe Navona, you are home! I have never been to a restaurant that is more dedicated to providing its patrons with a memorable dining experience than this one.
